Mass Protests Turn Deadly in Pakistan Administered Kashmir, 11 Killed

Post by : Shakul

At least 11 people have been killed and more than 70 others injured following violent clashes between protesters and security forces in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, according to local officials. The unrest erupted ahead of a planned demonstration organized by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a group advocating political reforms and opposing reserved legislative seats in the region.

The situation escalated as large crowds gathered in several areas to participate in the protest movement. Witnesses reported confrontations between demonstrators and security personnel, leading to widespread disturbances and chaos. Authorities deployed additional forces in an effort to restore order and prevent the violence from spreading further.

Officials confirmed that multiple casualties occurred during the clashes, while hospitals across affected districts received dozens of injured individuals. Emergency medical teams were mobilized to provide treatment as security agencies continued operations to stabilize the situation.

The Joint Awami Action Committee has been campaigning for changes in the political structure of the region, arguing that reserved legislative seats undermine democratic representation. The group has also called for broader political reforms and greater public participation in governance.
