Bollywood fans were treated to a nostalgic moment this weekend as Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta reunited at designer Manish Malhotra’s Diwali party. The on-screen duo, who were among the most loved stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s, shared a warm, heartfelt hug that immediately caught the attention of social media users.
The reunion instantly brought back memories of their iconic 1998 blockbuster Soldier, which was one of the year’s biggest hits, second only to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Songs like Soldier Soldier and Mere Dil Jigar Se Guzri Hai remain popular among fans, cementing the film’s status as a cult classic.
At the event, Preity Zinta looked elegant in a white Anarkali set, while Bobby Deol sported a maroon velvet kurta adorned with intricate zardozi embroidery. Bobby’s wife, Tania Deol, joined the pair for photographs, dazzling in a gold sequin saree. Fans especially appreciated Preity’s thoughtful gesture of including Tania when photographers initially called for solo pictures of the stars.
Social media quickly erupted with reactions to the reunion. Fans expressed their excitement and nostalgia, with one tweeting, “I don’t think anyone can hate on Preity. She’s too cute,” while another wrote, “Bring back Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta in Soldier 2. We miss them so much!”
Following the success of Soldier, Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta went on to star together in other popular films, including Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007) and Heroes (2008), further cementing their status as a beloved on-screen pair.
On the work front, Preity Zinta is gearing up for a highly anticipated comeback with Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan and featuring Sunny Deol in the lead. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol continues to enjoy praise for his recent work, including his performance in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba*ds of Bollywood**, which highlighted his strong screen presence.
The reunion at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali bash not only delighted fans but also reminded everyone of the golden era of Bollywood cinema and the enduring charm of Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta as a screen pair.
