In a thrilling day of men’s Asia Cup hockey on Monday, Malaysia and Korea showed their dominance in Pool B matches, earning their places in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. Malaysia delivered an overwhelming performance against Chinese Taipei, winning a staggering 15-0, while Korea secured a comfortable 5-1 victory over Bangladesh.
With these wins, Malaysia finished at the top of Pool B with three wins from three matches, demonstrating their skill, teamwork, and sharp scoring ability. Korea finished second in the pool with six points, while Bangladesh ended in third place with three points. Chinese Taipei, despite their efforts, could not manage a win in the tournament and remained at the bottom of the group.
Malaysia’s Crushing Win Over Chinese Taipei
Malaysia’s match against Chinese Taipei was a display of sheer dominance. The Malaysian forwards and midfielders were in perfect harmony, executing sharp passes, fast attacks, and precise shots on goal. Ashran Hamsani was one of the standout performers, scoring four goals in the 8th, 15th, 32nd, and 54th minutes. His teammate Akhimullah Anuar was equally impressive, finding the net five times in the 10th, 20th, 29th, 45th, and 56th minutes.
Other Malaysian scorers included Norsyafiq Sumantri, who scored a hat-trick at the 20th, 40th, and 60th minutes, while Abu Kamal Azrai, Andywalfian Effrynus, and Aiman Rozemi contributed one goal each. The teamwork and coordination on the field were evident as Malaysian players moved the ball quickly and exploited every opportunity to score.
By the final whistle, the scoreboard read 15-0, highlighting Malaysia’s complete control throughout the match. The team’s energy and focus will now carry into the Super 4 stage, where they are expected to be one of the favorites.
Korea Defeats Bangladesh with Clear Strategy
Earlier in the day, Korea faced Bangladesh in the first Pool B match. Korea started strongly, with Dain Son scoring two early goals in the 9th and 11th minutes to give his team a confident lead. Seungwoo Lee added another goal in the 16th minute, followed by Seyong Oh in the 22nd minute, putting Korea in a commanding position. Jihun Yang sealed the victory with a goal in the final 60th minute.
Bangladesh’s only goal came from Sohanur Sobuj in the 22nd minute, giving the team a brief moment of hope. Despite this, Korea maintained control and showcased their experience and skill to secure a 5-1 win. The victory ensures Korea moves into the Super 4 stage with strong momentum and confidence.
Pool B Summary
The results of Pool B were decisive and showed clear leaders in the competition:
Malaysia: 3 wins, topped the group, strong goal difference
Korea: 2 wins, 1 loss, second place
Bangladesh: 1 win, 2 losses, third place
Chinese Taipei: 0 wins, last in the group
