PM Anwar Urges Malaysia to Build Nation on Compassion, Morality, and Discipline

PM Anwar Urges Malaysia to Build Nation on Compassion, Morality, and Discipline

Post by : Raman

Johor, Malaysia – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that Malaysia’s true development must be built on humanitarian values, not just economic growth. Speaking at the opening of the 27th Johor Scouts General Assembly, the Prime Minister said morality, discipline, and compassion are the foundation for building a modern and advanced nation.

Human Values Over Machines and Technology

Prime Minister Anwar highlighted that while Malaysia continues to pursue economic growth, digital technology, and artificial intelligence, these efforts should not overshadow the importance of nurturing human spirit and dignity.

“Humans cannot be shaped by machines alone. They are shaped through morality, discipline, and compassion among friends, family, schoolmates, and across the different races and religions in our country,” he said.

He emphasized that these human qualities are vital for nation-building and cannot be replaced by technology.

The Role of Scouts in Building Character

Anwar connected his message to the Scout Movement, saying that the values of discipline, skills, and brotherhood within the Scouts provide an excellent framework for teaching young people these essential human qualities. The Scouts’ activities, teamwork, and sense of responsibility help instill morality, compassion, and respect in Malaysia’s youth.

“Scouts learn not only survival skills but also how to treat others with kindness, respect, and understanding,” Anwar said.

Humanitarian Values and Environmental Responsibility

The Prime Minister also linked humanitarian values to environmental care. He pointed out that without moral and ethical principles, people may become greedy and exploit natural resources. Practices like uncontrolled deforestation and pollution are examples of what can happen when humanity’s moral compass is ignored.

He urged Malaysians to connect compassion with responsibility toward nature, citing Islamic principles of care and stewardship as a guide for sustainable living.

Addressing Social Issues

Anwar Ibrahim did not shy away from addressing social issues. He condemned school bullying, saying it contradicts the humanitarian values Malaysia should uphold. He encouraged young people, teachers, and families to promote kindness, empathy, and respect in schools and communities.

Government Support for Scouts

Demonstrating the government’s commitment to these values, Prime Minister Anwar announced an immediate allocation of RM100,000 to support the Scouts Malaysia camping programme. He assured the audience that the funds would be approved by Monday to avoid any delays in supporting the youth programme.

International Participation and Friendship

The Prime Minister also appreciated international participation in the assembly, noting that scouts from Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and other countries were present. He said this international engagement is an example of friendship across borders and the importance of cultural exchange among young people.

A Week-Long Assembly to Strengthen Unity and Skills

The 27th Johor Scouts General Assembly is a week-long event that brings together more than 4,000 scouts from Malaysia and neighboring countries. The programme is designed to strengthen discipline, unity, and friendship among young people through shared activities and learning experiences.

Activities include camping, leadership training, teamwork exercises, and community service projects. These experiences help scouts develop practical skills, moral values, and a sense of responsibility toward society and the environment.

The Prime Minister’s Vision for Malaysia

Through his speech, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim conveyed a vision for Malaysia where economic growth and technological advancement go hand in hand with humanitarian principles. He emphasized that a nation is truly developed only when its people are compassionate, disciplined, and morally strong.

By linking the values taught in the Scout Movement to the broader goals of national development, Anwar highlighted the importance of nurturing the next generation with both skills and character.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s address at the Johor Scouts General Assembly serves as a reminder that Malaysia’s future depends not only on economic indicators and technological progress but also on the moral and humanitarian values of its people. Programs like the Scouts help cultivate these qualities in youth, ensuring that Malaysia’s growth is sustainable, inclusive, and ethical.

With government support, international participation, and strong values education, Malaysia’s young generation can lead the country toward a prosperous future rooted in discipline, compassion, and humanity.
