On August 10, 2025, Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif was killed in an Israeli airstrike near Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, along with five other journalists.
Israel alleges al-Sharif was linked to militants, but Al Jazeera and international watchdogs strongly deny the claim, calling it a targeted attack on press freedom.
Since October 2023, more than 180 Palestinian journalists have died in the ongoing conflict.
The global community is demanding accountability and stronger protections for journalists in war zones.
