A helicopter lost control and crashed near Huntington Beach, California, on Saturday afternoon, spinning into trees before coming to rest dangerously close to beachgoers along the Pacific Coast Highway. The dramatic accident caused panic among residents and visitors, as the aircraft narrowly avoided landing directly on a crowded area.
Authorities confirmed that five people were hospitalized as a result of the crash. Two of the injured were passengers inside the helicopter, while three were bystanders on the street who were struck during the incident. Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, arrived at the scene promptly to provide assistance, stabilize the injured, and secure the area to prevent further harm.
The victims were quickly transported to nearby hospitals, where they received medical care for injuries sustained in the crash. Officials reported that, while some injuries were serious, all victims survived the initial impact. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, examining mechanical issues, pilot error, and environmental factors such as weather and visibility.
Witnesses described the event as terrifying, with the helicopter spinning out of control before colliding with trees and landing near the road. The incident caused temporary road closures along the Pacific Coast Highway and disrupted local traffic, while emergency teams worked to clear debris and ensure the safety of the public.
Officials have urged the public to avoid the area while investigations continue, emphasizing that the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
