In a momentous event celebrated by thousands, the world’s largest Shivling, standing an impressive 33 feet tall and weighing approximately 210 tonnes, was successfully installed at the under-construction Virat Ramayan Mandir located in East Champaran. This remarkable black granite monolith marks a significant milestone in the temple’s development and has instantly become a symbol of spiritual grandeur and devotion.
The colossal Shivling, meticulously crafted from a single piece of black granite, was carved in the renowned stone sculpting town of Mahabalipuram, famous for its ancient rock-cut architecture and artistry. Its transportation and placement were feats of engineering and dedication, involving careful planning and coordination to preserve the sanctity and integrity of the sacred stone.
The installation ceremony was conducted with deep reverence amid the chanting of Vedic hymns and rituals performed by esteemed priests hailing from two of India’s most sacred spiritual centers — Varanasi and Ayodhya. Their presence added profound religious significance to the occasion, invoking divine blessings and energizing the atmosphere with spiritual fervor.
Devotees from across the region, along with government officials and dignitaries, gathered in large numbers to witness this awe-inspiring event. The crowd’s enthusiasm and devotion reflected the deep cultural and religious importance of the Shivling, which is revered as a representation of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism.
The Virat Ramayan Mandir, already drawing attention as a grand architectural marvel dedicated to the epic Ramayana, now boasts this monumental Shivling as its spiritual centerpiece. The temple complex aims to be a major pilgrimage destination, promoting cultural heritage and religious unity.
As the rituals concluded, the resonant chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed throughout the site, symbolizing victory and devotion to Lord Shiva. This historic installation not only enriches the spiritual landscape of East Champaran but also reinforces the deep-rooted traditions and faith that continue to inspire millions across India and beyond.
