Early Tuesday morning, a mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted several parts of Bageshwar district in Uttarakhand, creating a moment of concern among residents. The tremor struck at precisely 7:25 am, with its epicentre located near Kapkot town, which lies about 30 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Bageshwar.

According to the official report from the District Disaster Management Office, the earthquake was felt widely across the district, prompting many residents to immediately evacuate their homes as a precautionary measure. The tremors, although mild, were strong enough to be noticed clearly by people, especially in the early morning hours when most were indoors.

Despite the initial alarm caused by the earthquake, authorities have confirmed that there have been no reports of injuries, loss of life, or damage to buildings and infrastructure. This reassurance from officials has helped calm the residents and local communities who remain alert but composed.

Shikha Suyal, the District Disaster Management Officer of Bageshwar, shared that the district administration is closely monitoring the situation. The proactive preparedness measures and quick communication have been pivotal in minimizing panic among the population.
