A.R. Rahman's Unforgettable Jamal Al Ittihad Symphony at Sheikh Zayed Festival

Post by : Maya Rahman

Recently, the Sheikh Zayed Festival dazzled over 80,000 attendees with a stunning musical spectacle. The star of the event was the world premiere of the Jamal Al Ittihad symphony, composed by acclaimed Indian artist A. R. Rahman. This performance, held in the evening, celebrated the 54th Eid Al Etihad while honoring the United Arab Emirates. Gathering music enthusiasts, families, and dignitaries, the festival provided a wonderful space to recognize and embrace the nation's accomplishments and values through an innovative Emirati musical experience.

Developed in the UAE through collaboration between Burjeel Holdings and A. R. Rahman, the Jamal Al Ittihad symphony is a distinctive artistic creation. It was performed live before an audience of tens of thousands for the first time, embodying essential values of the UAE such as unity, coexistence, hope, and shared humanity. The symphony, through its composition, visuals, and lyrics, encapsulates the UAE's journey from its history to the present and envisions a hopeful future. It reflects the nation's achievements and progress, inspired by the wisdom of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The symphony's special number for the 54th Eid Al Etihad beautifully illustrates the UAE's incredible journey. Music and imagery highlight the nation’s milestones and the core principles that shape its identity. Rahman remarked that Jamal Al Ittihad is an international endeavor, rooted entirely in the UAE. He emphasized that the country’s vision and spirit of coexistence set it apart, welcoming people from across the globe who contribute to the nation’s development. The song celebrates this diversity and underscores love, pride, and collective progress at the heart of the UAE identity.

During the event, Rahman expressed that the symphony embodies the UAE’s inclusive spirit, uniting diverse cultures and perspectives harmoniously. The composition delivers a message of hope, collaboration, and unity, resonating with the essence of Eid Al Etihad, which signifies national togetherness and shared ideals. He further stated that this artistic project not only honors the UAE’s notable achievements but also acts as a cultural bridge to the world, exemplifying how art can foster connections across societies.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, remarked that one song could never fully encapsulate the UAE's essence. He shared his personal narrative of arriving as a doctor and achieving success within the opportunities afforded by the UAE. Dr. Vayalil noted that his experience mirrors many who came to the UAE with aspirations and ultimately flourished. He emphasized that the Jamal Al Ittihad symphony embodies the stories, contributions, and ambitions of all those who have played a part in the nation’s development.

The premiere of the Jamal Al Ittihad symphony at the Sheikh Zayed Festival marks a significant milestone in the UAE's cultural landscape. It marries music, storytelling, and national pride, reaffirming the values of unity, coexistence, and hope. The event also underscores the UAE's dedication to fostering creativity, global collaboration, and cultural exchange. This vibrant performance serves as a testament to how the arts can unite people and fortify national identity while celebrating the UAE's achievements on an international platform.

The successful debut of the Jamal Al Ittihad symphony has left a lasting impression on attendees, officials, and performers alike. It showcases the UAE's ability to blend tradition with innovation, demonstrating a strong commitment to cultural growth, inclusivity, and progress. The Sheikh Zayed Festival remains an influential venue where music, culture, and national pride unite to celebrate the UAE's identity, leaving an inspiring legacy for future generations. This event will be cherished as a profound homage to the nation's commitment to unity and coexistence.
