Agartala, the capital of Tripura, is set to become more accessible with the launch of a direct flight service to Bagdogra, beginning October 26, 2025. This new route will significantly improve air connectivity for travelers heading to popular destinations in North Bengal and nearby regions, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, and even the scenic state of Sikkim.
The daily flights will be operated using a 180-seater Boeing aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable and convenient travel experience. The service from Bagdogra will depart at 4:30 PM, reaching Agartala by 5:40 PM. The return journey from Agartala is scheduled at 6:10 PM, landing back in Bagdogra at 7:20 PM, making it easy for tourists and business travelers to plan their trips efficiently.
Ticket bookings for this new service have already begun. Fares are structured to be affordable, encouraging families and tourists to explore the hills of North Bengal during the upcoming winter season. The addition of this route aligns perfectly with the peak tourist season, allowing travelers to enjoy hill stations and cultural destinations without hassle.
In a strategic shift, Air India Express will temporarily suspend its Agartala-Guwahati flights to focus on the new Bagdogra service. However, other airlines like IndiGo and Akasa Air will continue operating the Agartala-Guwahati route, ensuring that regular passengers continue to have uninterrupted travel options.
The launch of Agartala-Bagdogra flights strengthens Northeast India’s air network, providing smoother access to hill stations, tourist spots, and cultural landmarks. Travelers can now enjoy experiences such as watching the sunrise at Tiger Hill in Darjeeling, exploring the tea gardens, or visiting the scenic hills and monasteries of Gangtok with ease and convenience.
This move marks a major step in enhancing connectivity for Tripura and North Bengal, making air travel more efficient, comfortable, and tourist-friendly.
