At the EDEX 2025 defence exhibition, the Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) has successfully finalized three key agreements with the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) in Egypt. These agreements aim to strengthen defence cooperation, enhance aircraft support, and develop technical capabilities between the UAE and Egypt. The event took place at the Egypt International Exhibition Center from December 1 to 4.
High-ranking officials from both countries were present during the signing, including Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and Mahmood Alhay Alhameli, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation. The actual signing was performed by AMMROC CEO Jasem Al Marzooqi and Major General Engineer Mukhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of AOI. These agreements aim to enhance collaboration in various defence platforms, aircraft systems, and support manufacturing.
The first MoU was executed with the AOI Aircraft Factory, defining a framework for collaboration in the production and development of components and systems for fixed-wing planes and unmanned aerial vehicles. This partnership entails aligning production lines with AMMROC’s specifications, establishing dedicated manufacturing sectors, and setting higher standards for inspection and testing.
Additionally, the agreement emphasizes the transfer of knowledge and technical training. Both parties aim to create joint initiatives that cater to the rising regional and global demand for aircraft components, showcasing their commitment to enhancing aviation capabilities.
The second MoU was signed with the AOI Engine Factory and Digital Manufacturing Center, focusing on strengthening ties in engine repair, overhaul, production, treatment, and component supply. This includes initiatives to produce essential parts, enhance heat treatment, and improve coating processes.
The arrangement supports precision manufacturing, narrows technical training, and extends factory operations to meet AMMROC's engine programme needs. The collaboration aims to enhance efficiency and reliability through digital manufacturing techniques.
The third MoU involved the Helwan Factory for Advanced Industries, aimed at boosting helicopter maintenance and overhaul operations. This involves collaborative efforts in servicing helicopter systems and setting up production lines for selected components, emphasizing joint training initiatives.
Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi remarked that these agreements underline the UAE's dedication to fostering robust defence relationships, particularly with Egypt, which plays a vital role in enhancing future defence objectives.
Mahmood Alhay Alhameli emphasized Egypt's significant industrial capability, asserting that these agreements will bolster long-term regional partnerships. Jasem Al Marzooqi further noted that the MoUs signify AMMROC's aim to enhance its operational presence and military fleet readiness.
These three MoUs are pivotal to AMMROC’s continual mission to forge partnerships, transfer knowledge, and upgrade capabilities within the defence aviation sector. The company also showcased models of the F-16 and C-130 at EDEX 2025, signaling its advanced MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services.
In conclusion, these agreements represent a significant leap in solidifying UAE-Egypt ties in defence aviation while expanding collaboration in aircraft development, engine support, and helicopter systems.
