Expert Insights on Reversible Hair Loss in Women from Dwarka Doctor

Expert Insights on Reversible Hair Loss in Women from Dwarka Doctor

Post by : Saif Rahman

It's common for women to feel alarmed when they notice hair loss on their pillow or during a shower. Many resort to various shampoos, oils, and diets without success. Dr. Brijmohan Arora, a seasoned diabetologist from Dwarka, New Delhi, alleviates these concerns by emphasizing that most hair loss in women is indeed reversible.

In a recent video, Dr. Arora, with 24 years of expertise, highlighted that hair loss in women often indicates an internal health issue, rather than being solely genetic like in men. He stated, “Hair loss in women is often a symptom, not a disease.” This signifies that addressing the root cause can restore hair growth.

Dr. Arora noted that numerous young women face anxiety over thinning hair, often attributing it to pollution, hair dyes, or styling. However, he clarified that the real reasons tend to be more related to health. Nutrient deficiencies, particularly in iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, or zinc, can weaken hair. When the body lacks these essential nutrients, the hair may become fragile and prone to breakage.

Hormonal fluctuations play a role as well. Conditions like thyroid disorders, PCOS, or postpartum changes can lead to sudden hair shedding. Dr. Arora remarked that elevated stress levels and health recoveries from illnesses like dengue or COVID-19 can also trigger temporary hair loss. Fortunately, such hair loss typically resolves once the underlying health issues are addressed, along with proper rest and nutrition.

The doctor advises women to heed the initial signs of hair thinning. If hair loss persists for several weeks, simple blood tests to evaluate iron, thyroid, and Vitamin D levels can help pinpoint the issue. Correcting deficiencies or addressing medical conditions generally aids in restoring normal hair growth.

Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial. A balanced diet, sufficient sleep, low stress, and gentle hair care practices safeguard hair health. He recommends steering clear of tight hairstyles, harsh chemicals, and high-heat styling tools that can damage hair roots.

Dr. Arora stresses that hair loss in women is rarely a permanent situation. It can be reversed when the underlying cause is promptly identified. He urges women not to panic or self-diagnose but to seek medical expertise to save time and prevent potential long-term damage.

Many viewers of his video expressed that they finally grasped why their hair loss persisted even after trying various pricey products. Dr. Arora’s message underscores a critical point: for women, hair loss is often the body signaling for assistance.
