A tragic Jaipur road accident claimed 13 lives and left more than 10 people injured after a speeding dumper truck ploughed into multiple vehicles near Loha Mandi in the Harmada area on Monday afternoon. The devastating incident, which occurred around 1 pm, turned a busy stretch into chaos and horror, leaving mangled vehicles and shattered lives in its wake.
According to police, the accident took place when the dumper, coming from Road No. 14, attempted to enter the highway near a petrol pump. The driver reportedly lost control of the truck, which then rammed into cars, motorbikes, and pedestrians along a 300-meter stretch. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as the heavy vehicle crushed everything in its path before coming to a halt near the Loha Mandi Petrol Pump.
Emergency teams and local residents rushed to the site, pulling victims from the wreckage and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Police confirmed that three of the injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre for advanced care. Traffic in the area was immediately diverted to allow ambulances and recovery vehicles to clear the debris.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the Jaipur road tragedy and assured that the injured are receiving the best possible medical treatment. He has instructed the district collector and hospital authorities to ensure there are no lapses in care. The Chief Minister dispatched ministers Jhavar Singh Kharra and KK Bishnoi to Kanwatia Hospital, while ministers Suresh Rawat and Sumit Godara were sent to SMS Hospital to oversee relief measures.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sharma wrote, “The loss of lives in the road accident at Loha Mandi in Harmada, Jaipur, is extremely tragic and painful. Instructions have been given to ensure proper treatment for the injured. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this loss.”
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also offered condolences, calling the incident “deeply saddening.” He wrote, “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May the departed souls rest in peace and the families find strength in this difficult time.”
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether brake failure or driver negligence was involved. The dumper truck has been seized, and the driver is reportedly in custody for questioning.
This Jaipur road accident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by speeding heavy vehicles on city roads. Police have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially in densely populated areas where even a moment of carelessness can lead to devastating consequences.
