Track replacement work on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line will begin on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with the project scheduled to continue in phases until September 2027. The work is expected to temporarily affect selected stations on several Sunday mornings. Rapid KL said the track replacement programme will be carried out in seven phases, with different sections of the line affected during each phase. The work is being planned in stages because some sections, particularly those with longer curved alignments, require additional time to complete. During the affected periods, passengers using selected stations may experience temporary changes to normal train services. Rapid KL said stations that are not included in the affected clusters will continue operating according to their regular schedules.

Which Kelana Jaya LRT stations will be affected?

The first phase will take place on September 13, 20 and 27, 2026, and will affect Taman Melati and Gombak stations.

The second phase is scheduled for November 15, 22 and 29, 2026, involving Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum.

The third phase will take place on January 10, 17 and 24, 2027, affecting Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek and Setiawangsa.

Further work is planned for March 14, 21 and 28, 2027, again affecting Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum.

The fifth phase, scheduled for May 9, 16 and 23, 2027, will affect several stations in the central Kuala Lumpur area, including Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC and Ampang Park.  Work will continue on July 11, 18 and 25, 2027, affecting Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum.

The final phase is scheduled for September 12, 19 and 26, 2027, when work will return to Taman Melati and Gombak.

Free shuttle buses for passengers

To reduce inconvenience during the disruption, Rapid KL said free shuttle bus services will operate between affected stations throughout the relevant work periods. Station staff, auxiliary police personnel and Prasarana Troopers will also be deployed to help passengers understand the temporary arrangements and find alternative connections. Passengers travelling on affected Sunday mornings are therefore advised to allow extra time for their journeys and follow directions provided at the stations.

Ticketing changes during the work

Rapid KL said ticketing machines at affected stations will be temporarily closed until 9.30am during the scheduled disruption. Passengers who need to purchase tickets will be able to use station counters instead. Holders of Rapid KL products and Touch ‘n Go can continue their journeys as usual, subject to the temporary service arrangements.

Why is the LRT track being replaced?

The planned works are part of efforts to replace sections of ageing track infrastructure and support the continued reliability and safety of the LRT service. According to Rapid KL, sections with longer curved alignments need more time to replace. Because of the complexity of this work, some activities may continue into the following morning. Authorities are encouraging commuters to check the latest service information before travelling, particularly if their journey involves one of the affected stations.
