The 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) came to a close in Jeddah, following five days of significant discussions led by Saudi Arabia through the General Court of Audit (GCA). Notable representatives from audit bodies across 22 Arab nations joined regional and global experts at the event. Key resolutions were passed aimed at enhancing governance, boosting efficiency, and supporting the evolution of audit organizations within member states. A pivotal outcome was the confirmation of Saudi Arabia for a second term as Chair of the Governing Board, enabling the Kingdom to host all ARABOSAI meetings until 2028. These resolutions are poised to elevate the quality of auditing processes and enhance their benefits throughout the region.
The assembly also included the 69th and 70th Governing Board meetings, where attendees evaluated progress on ARABOSAI's strategic initiatives. Various committees provided updates resulting in key decisions to support their future endeavors and activities. A technical symposium was conducted during the meetings, showcasing successful practices in capacity enhancement and sharing case studies from various Arab audit bodies. Discussions centered on refining training programs, advancing professional skills, and fostering greater performance within national audit organizations.
A highlight of the assembly was the Peer Review Report presented by GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari to the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan. The report evaluated the chamber’s adherence to international audit standards, marking significant strides toward greater transparency and quality auditing practices. Additionally, the assembly celebrated the graduation of 20 auditors from the Certified Arab Auditor Fellowship Program, a pivotal initiative by the GCA to cultivate proficient professionals in the auditing sector.
Concluding discussions revolved around enhancing collaboration among Arab Supreme Audit Institutions and furthering the exchange of expertise. Participants underscored the necessity of translating all suggestions and outcomes into actionable steps for enhancing governance, transparency, and institutional performance throughout the Arab region. With a renewed commitment from member nations, ARABOSAI is set to advance auditing standards significantly and bolster the efficacy of oversight efforts in the years ahead.
