Oman's Humanitarian Efforts Aid in Repatriation of Eternity C Vessel Crew

Post by : Maya Rahman

Oman has undertaken a significant humanitarian initiative by facilitating the repatriation of the crew of the vessel Eternity C, exemplifying its ongoing commitment to assisting those affected by regional issues in Yemen. This endeavor underscores Oman’s role as a supportive ally in times of crisis.

The operation successfully moved eleven crew members from Sana’a to Muscat. The sailors, hailing from the Philippines and India, were aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) aircraft. Their arrival in Muscat begins their journey home, where they can reunite with their loved ones, marking a new chapter after enduring difficulties in Yemen. Oman’s careful planning ensured the crew received adequate support, care, and safe transit.

Hans Leo Cacdac, the Secretary of Labour of the Philippines, expressed sincere gratitude for Oman’s humanitarian actions. He thanked the Government of Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for their relentless efforts in securing the release of the crew. His visit to Oman was marked by sincere appreciation for the welcoming nature he experienced.

Cacdac also highlighted the robust collaboration between Oman and the Philippines, particularly in labor matters, where cooperation has remained positive and fruitful. He acknowledged the sizable Filipino workforce in Oman, which fosters beneficial relations that enhance the ties between the two nations.

From the Indian perspective, Ambassador Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas commended the longstanding relationship between Oman and India, underscoring over 70 years of diplomatic ties enhanced by economic partnerships, maritime connections, and mutual cultural understanding. He expressed gratitude for Oman’s role in ensuring a smooth and safe repatriation process for the Indian crew member.

Anel Kumar, the Indian crew member, conveyed immense joy upon his release, thanking Oman for the support that enabled him to start his journey back home. His words echoed the relief shared among the crew members following their freedom.

Filipino crew member Julimo Taberos also expressed heartfelt thanks to the Government of Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, eagerly anticipating returning home to his family after an arduous separation.

This successful repatriation serves as a testament to Oman’s dedication to humanitarianism in the region. Through effective diplomacy and a commitment to human dignity, Oman plays a pivotal role in addressing sensitive circumstances. The nation’s contributions reflect its vow to assist international partners and safeguard vulnerable individuals during crises.

Ultimately, this operation highlights Oman’s esteemed values of compassion, responsibility, and peaceful solidarity. The safe return of the crew members of the Eternity C marks a significant moment for both the sailors and their families, who can now restore their lives after a trying ordeal.
