Lansdowne 2.0 Redevelopment Kicks Off with Phase 1 Construction in Ottawa

Lansdowne 2.0 Redevelopment Kicks Off with Phase 1 Construction in Ottawa

Post by : Meena Ariff

The City of Ottawa has officially launched the Lansdowne 2.0 redevelopment project, awarding the construction contract to EBC Inc. This pivotal step is part of a long-term initiative designed to rejuvenate one of the city's major urban centers.

After the council's approval of the construction strategy on November 7, the city accomplished all required legal and commercial assessments, ensured bonding and insurance prerequisites, and finalized the construction agreement. Tammy Rose, the General Manager of Infrastructure, stated, “The contract with EBC Inc. has been executed, and the City of Ottawa has issued a Commence Work Order.”

Commencing on November 28, Phase 1 focuses on erecting a new Event Centre. This phase includes removing barriers, environmental cleanup, site preparation, modifications to TD Place, creating an underground loading dock, accessible drop-off areas, constructing new barriers, as well as landscaping and wayfinding enhancements around the Great Lawn.

City officials confirmed that there would be no anticipated road closures or detours during this initial phase, ensuring TD Place remains accessible to visitors throughout the construction.

To keep residents informed, a detailed construction communication campaign will be introduced. There will also be an opportunity for residents and businesses to participate in a drop-in information session to discuss construction timelines, milestones, and mitigation measures. The date for this event will be shared shortly.

The Lansdowne 2.0 initiative signifies a decade-long dedication to revitalizing one of Ottawa's key communal spaces, promising modern facilities, enhanced public services, and a lively urban atmosphere.
