In a disturbing incident in Bengaluru, a 60-year-old pilot from a private airline is facing allegations of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old cabin crew member at a luxury hotel the previous week. The alleged incident occurred on November 18 after a chartered flight from Begumpet in Hyderabad and Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.
As per information from police, the accused, Rohit Saran, checked into the hotel with a colleague and the victim to rest before their return flight to Puttaparthi scheduled for the following day. The victim claims that Rohit coaxed her to his room under the guise of having a smoke. Once inside, she alleges he assaulted her against her will.
Upon returning to Begumpet on November 20, the survivor reported the episode to her employer and lodged a zero FIR at Begumpet Police Station. Authorities have classified the case under Section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses rape offenses.
The investigation has now moved to Halasuru Police Station in Bengaluru for further inquiry. Police reported that the investigation is active, and further information regarding the suspect's custody or legal actions is pending.
This incident has raised alarms about the safety of cabin crew during travel assignments, emphasizing the urgent need for comprehensive safety protocols regarding charter flights and hotel stays.
