Saudi Arabia Takes the Helm Again as ARABOSAI President

Saudi Arabia Takes the Helm Again as ARABOSAI President

Post by : Maya Rahman

Saudi Arabia has officially commenced its second term as the president of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) for the span of 2025–2028. This significant announcement was made during the ongoing fifteenth session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly in Jeddah. This period marks a crucial achievement for the Kingdom, showcasing its leadership role and the trust member nations have in its capabilities.

The new term initiates with Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit, hosting the current session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly. Notably, the Kingdom is the first member to secure the presidency for two consecutive terms since the establishment of the organization in 1976. This underlines the confidence in Saudi Arabia’s audit institutions and their effective performance during the initial term.

In its first term (2022–2025), Saudi Arabia made remarkable contributions towards ARABOSAI’s mission to facilitate cooperation among its member institutions. The General Court of Audit was pivotal in enhancing collaborative efforts, sharing best practices, and executing strategies that added substantial value to the organization. These accomplishments earned the unanimous support of all member institutions for renewing the Kingdom’s presidency.

The ongoing ARABOSAI General Assembly session serves as a venue for discussing prominent issues surrounding audit standards, governance, and financial oversight within the Arab realm. The gathering assembles leaders and experts from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across member countries to exchange insights, tackle challenges, and explore methodologies to boost public sector accountability and transparency.

Saudi Arabia’s leadership is set to emphasize the exchange of expertise, the development of training programs, and the support of initiatives aimed at enhancing audit performance among member states. The Kingdom is determined to foster strong partnerships, promote collaboration, and advance innovative auditing practices that conform to global standards.

The General Court of Audit has played a pivotal role in championing auditing excellence within Saudi Arabia and the Arab region. With the presidency of ARABOSAI, the Kingdom will continue to advocate for capacity-building programs, execute strategic initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of audit institutions among member states.

Saudi Arabia’s presidential role will include organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences centered on new trends in auditing, particularly the integration of technology and digital tools to enhance public financial management. These initiatives align with the Kingdom’s overarching ambition of bolstering transparency, accountability, and good governance in public institutions.

The decision to re-elect Saudi Arabia as president for another term illustrates the recognition of its proactive and effective leadership within the Arab auditing community. The Kingdom’s contributions have significantly strengthened ARABOSAI’s effectiveness and unity, enhancing its capacity to support member states.

As this new term unfolds, Saudi Arabia is expected to uphold its commitment to delivering superior audit practices, encouraging collaboration, and fostering initiatives that facilitate knowledge sharing among ARABOSAI member nations. The Kingdom's presidency reiterates its dedication to excellence, leadership, and sustainable public financial oversight.
