Sharjah recently hosted a special event as part of the global preparatory roadshow for BRIDGE Summit 2025, the world’s largest gathering for the media, content, and entertainment industries. The event took place alongside the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), reinforcing Sharjah’s role as a hub for government communication, media, and innovation. The main BRIDGE Summit is scheduled in Abu Dhabi from December 8–10, 2025.
The Sharjah event brought together media leaders, content creators, government officials, and professionals in government communication. The goal was to showcase BRIDGE’s vision: creating a global platform that connects media, content, and entertainment sectors while promoting collaboration and innovation.
During the event, officials and communication experts exchanged ideas and discussed strategies to keep up with global media changes. By hosting BRIDGE alongside IGCF, Sharjah showed its leadership in government communication and media development. The city has become an important place for governments to communicate with their communities effectively and transparently.
Dr. Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director-General of the UAE National Media Office and Vice Chairman of BRIDGE, opened the event. He explained that media today is more than TV, newspapers, or online platforms. It has become a complex system that influences public awareness, social development, and international relations. Yet, he noted, there was no platform that united content creators, investors, and distributors. BRIDGE aims to fill this gap by creating a global network that encourages cooperation and innovation.
Dr. Al Kaabi emphasized that modern government communication goes beyond official statements. Today, governments can reach people through cinema, entertainment, drama, and dialogue, making messages faster and more effective. He stressed the importance of BRIDGE as a platform that brings together governments and content creators to reshape the future of media, content, and entertainment.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled “Bridges, Not Walls”, featuring content creator Tareq Skaik. He spoke about the humanitarian power of content and its ability to influence communities positively. Skaik encouraged everyone, from students to professionals, to create content reflecting culture, creativity, and heritage. He said content should unite people rather than divide them, showing the region’s stability and leadership globally.
Another session, “Blueprints for a Media Order that Strengthens Society”, was led by political analyst Dr. Moataz Abdel-Fattah and moderated by media personality Lenah Hassaballah. Dr. Abdel-Fattah emphasized that media carries moral responsibility, promoting values like education, economic initiative, and scientific knowledge. He also discussed the future role of artificial intelligence (AI) in media, stressing the importance of building safeguards to ensure AI supports responsible and meaningful content creation.
The Sharjah event highlighted the potential of media, content, and entertainment as tools for development, culture, and society. BRIDGE Summit 2025 aims to create a permanent global platform where creators, governments, and investors can collaborate, share ideas, and innovate together.
The summit will also focus on creating opportunities that transcend borders, helping governments communicate more effectively while giving content creators access to resources and partnerships worldwide. By doing so, BRIDGE seeks to transform media from a simple communication tool into a force for societal progress and cultural exchange.
The Sharjah event demonstrated the power of collaboration between governments, content creators, and communities. It showed how media can promote positive narratives, reflect cultural heritage, and engage audiences worldwide. With BRIDGE Summit 2025 approaching, the UAE is positioning itself as a global hub for media innovation and cultural leadership, creating opportunities that go far beyond a single event.
This initiative underlines the importance of bridging gaps, not creating walls, and ensuring media, content, and entertainment contribute positively to society, development, and global communication.
