UAE Condemns Sudan Attacks, Urges Civilians’ Protection in El Fasher

UAE Condemns Sudan Attacks, Urges Civilians’ Protection in El Fasher

Post by : Rameen Ariff

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned the recent attacks on civilians in El Fasher, Sudan, during a United Nations Security Council session, calling the assaults a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN, Mohamed Abushahab, urged the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel, emphasizing that both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF must exercise full restraint and cease targeting innocent civilians.

The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with the Sudanese people, announcing an additional $100 million to support life-saving humanitarian operations in El Fasher. “We call for an immediate humanitarian truce that leads to a permanent ceasefire and a transition process toward an independent civilian-led government,” Abushahab stated.

Highlighting the importance of international law, the UAE stressed that all parties must fully comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law to prevent further loss of life and suffering.

Through its actions, the UAE continues to play a proactive role in supporting Sudanese civilians amid the ongoing conflict, combining diplomatic advocacy with substantial humanitarian assistance to alleviate the crisis on the ground.
