UAE Lauded for Major Humanitarian Water Project in Gaza

UAE Lauded for Major Humanitarian Water Project in Gaza

Post by : Rameen Ariff

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has praised the United Arab Emirates for its robust humanitarian support to Gaza, highlighting one of the largest water supply projects aimed at alleviating the ongoing crisis in the region.

Speaking at the Arab Parliament’s second ordinary session of the fourth legislative term held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Al Yamahi commended the UAE’s efforts under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, a large-scale initiative designed to aid the Palestinian people.

As part of the operation, the UAE has launched a major project to deliver desalinated water from Egypt to southern Gaza, providing safe drinking water to nearly 600,000 residents facing severe shortages due to the conflict. Officials described the initiative as a vital lifeline for thousands struggling with basic necessities.

Al Yamahi also recognized the critical roles played by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye in brokering the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement in Sharm El Sheikh, calling it a key step toward regional stability and long-term reconstruction. He emphasized that unity and international collaboration are essential to rebuild Gaza and achieve lasting peace.

Reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the Arab world, Al Yamahi urged stronger global participation in the upcoming Gaza reconstruction conference in Egypt this November. He called on nations and international organizations to extend their efforts to support Gaza’s recovery and the Palestinian people’s right to a secure, independent state with Al Quds as its capital.

He further acknowledged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued backing for the two-state solution and its efforts to gain broader international recognition for the State of Palestine, stressing the importance of a unified Arab and international stance during the next phase of Gaza’s reconstruction.

The UAE’s humanitarian initiative has drawn widespread praise for its scale and impact, positioning the country as a key partner in addressing the humanitarian challenges facing Gaza and reinforcing its global role in crisis relief and reconstruction efforts.
