Iran Targets ‘CIA-Linked’ Site in Dubai Viral Footage Sparks Tension in UAE

Post by : Shakul

A video circulating online claiming that Iran attacked the CIA headquarters in Dubai is false and misleading, multiple fact‑checking organisations have confirmed. The footage being shared on social media does not show a recent Iranian strike on any CIA‑linked facility in Dubai and predates current tensions in the region.

Reverse image and video searches reveal that one of the widely shared clips dates back to October 2024 and was originally posted in connection with unrelated events, not the current conflict. This confirms that the footage could not depict a recent Iranian attack on Dubai. Other claims, including videos purportedly showing explosions or strikes in downtown Dubai, have also been traced to older sources or identified as AI‑generated or misattributed content.

The United Arab Emirates authorities, amid heightened tensions following Iranian missile and drone attacks on the country, have warned the public against sharing unverified information and rumours. The UAE Public Prosecution has stated that circulating false content online can have legal consequences and urged people to rely only on official sources for updates.

While Iranian strikes on the UAE as part of the ongoing conflict have been confirmed — including attacks that have caused damage and casualties in Dubai and Abu Dhabi — no credible evidence supports the claim that a CIA headquarters or US intelligence facility in Dubai was hit by Iranian forces.

Misinformation has been rampant across social media platforms during the conflict, with numerous old or unrelated clips being mischaracterised as evidence of recent attacks. Experts stress the importance of verifying footage before sharing it to avoid spreading false narratives at a volatile time.
