San Francisco has reportedly deployed over 300 free-roaming humanoid robots across public spaces as part of large-scale real-world trials. The initiative aims to study how people naturally interact with humanoid machines, while closely evaluating safety, reliability, and public acceptance. These robots are being observed in controlled pilot programs to understand navigation in crowded environments, social behavior, and ethical concerns before any wider commercial or civic deployment. Experts note that although AI and robotic mobility are advancing quickly, current humanoid robots are still in early developmental stages and require extensive testing before becoming part of everyday urban life.
