Bollywood actor Yami Gautam has earned widespread praise for her performances in films like Article 370, A Thursday, and Bala. Despite multiple nominations at prestigious award functions such as the Filmfare Awards and IIFA, the actor has yet to take home a Best Actress trophy. However, Yami recently shared that not winning awards no longer affects her.
Speaking about her journey, Yami said she has learned to detach from the constant chase for validation. “As much as I have understood the Bhagwat Geeta, what Lord Krishna says to Arjun is true,” she explained. “If you can detach from success, fear of losing, or validation from others, you are fine. I’ve stopped seeking any kind of validation from anyone.”
Reflecting on her growth, Yami added that her biggest reward comes from her fans. “The fact that my audience loves me, and that certain directors and producers are willing to take a chance on me — there’s no bigger award than that,” she said.
Yami made her Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor (2013), which earned her several debutant awards. Over the years, she has carved a niche for herself with powerful and unconventional roles.
The actor is now gearing up for her next release, Haq, co-starring Emraan Hashmi. The legal drama, inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case, follows Yami as a Muslim woman fighting for her rights and maintenance after divorce. Haq is set to hit theatres on November 7, and fans are already anticipating another strong performance from the actress.
