In 2025, the Zayed Authority for People of Determination made significant strides in supporting the community across the UAE. Their initiatives focused on education, healthcare, sports, employment, and social integration, empowering PoD to lead dignified lives and engage in national development initiatives.

A standout achievement included winning the Zero Project Global Award 2026 for its groundbreaking initiative on “Issuing Parking Permits for People of Determination.” This digital service allows individuals to apply online and obtain permits swiftly via automated connections to official databases, enhancing efficiency and independence for PoD.

This year, the Authority joined Abu Dhabi’s social sector under the Department of Community Development, fostering institutional synergy and accelerating efforts towards inclusive growth and better lifestyles for PoD. The launch of the 2026 Strategy, Nebrasna, emphasized four key areas: empowerment, inclusion, digital advancement, and community sustainability, alongside initiatives to boost employee engagement.

On the international front, the Authority proudly represented the UAE at the 18th Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP18) at the UN in New York, advocating for inclusivity through robust partnerships. They participated in the Second Global Social Development Summit in Doha, signing agreements with the International Disability Alliance and China Disabled Persons’ Federation to share expertise and advance global efforts for PoD.

The ongoing “Bridges of Hope” program with Egypt progressed, enhancing Poetry and therapy services for PoD. Collaborations with the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity during World Braille Day highlighted a commitment to global human fraternity.

2025 also saw the introduction of several innovative programs, including the Early Intervention – Together We Begin project, focused on developmental checks for children up to eight years. The “We Read” Learning Lab was established to facilitate PoD, particularly those with cerebral palsy, in navigating digital platforms and accessing educational resources. Additionally, the UAE–Russian Psychology Dictionary Award and two scholarly journals were set up to boost research in rehabilitation and mental health.

Enhancing vocational skills, the first Skills Competition for People of Determination attracted 137 participants, with nine individuals obtaining barista certifications through the Specialty Coffee Association Level 1 program. Collaborations with the Ministry of Higher Education secured national accreditation for vocational training.

Led by H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Third International Conference on Advances in Autism Research convened over 500 experts. The Authority also introduced specialized training in psychomotor therapy and initiatives like “Gifted Determination,” showcasing artistic talents among PoD.

Innovative programs included a professional diploma for parents, sports federations partnerships, an AI-driven robot for PoD card distribution, and enhanced mobility services through Q-Mobility.

With these initiatives, the Zayed Authority for People of Determination is advancing independence, inclusivity, and community involvement, thereby supporting the UAE's vision for a diverse and sustainable society.
