Abdul Rahman Ahmed Abdul Haq, a 19-year-old Jiu-Jitsu practitioner from Baniyas Club, has made an outstanding achievement by clinching the gold medal in the 56 kg amateur category at the ongoing Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship held at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.

Expressing his gratitude, Abdul Rahman stated that Jiu-Jitsu has significantly changed his life by instilling discipline, confidence, and mental resilience. He noted that the sport offered him a new outlook on challenges both inside and outside the mat, thereby shaping his competitive spirit and life approach.

In a post-match interview, Abdul Rahman reflected, “Jiu-Jitsu has profoundly altered my perspective on life. It has imparted the values of commitment and discipline, enabling me to confront every obstacle with determination. I've transformed from an ordinary individual to someone who feels confident, organized, and accountable.”

He recounted how his passion for Jiu-Jitsu sprouted during his school years, largely due to the unwavering support of the UAE's leadership in promoting sports among students nationwide. These national initiatives played a crucial role in helping him hone his talents and providing access to resources and training essential for competing on a global platform.

As a vital part of his daily life, Abdul Rahman emphasized the countless hours he has devoted to training, mastering techniques, and enhancing both his mental and physical capabilities. For him, Jiu-Jitsu transcends competition; it is a lifestyle that defines his being.

He expressed, “I aspire to collect more championships and earn my black belt. My goal is to repay my country for the support and opportunities it has provided. Jiu-Jitsu has become integral to my life, and I am committed to working tirelessly to uphold my nation’s honor.”

Abdul Rahman’s success is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to nurturing and promoting Jiu-Jitsu as a national sport. The country has emerged as a premier international destination for Jiu-Jitsu events, hosting elite competitions and fostering the development of new athletic talent through school and club initiatives.
