Abu Dhabi Boosts Food Security and Supply Chain Integrity

Abu Dhabi Boosts Food Security and Supply Chain Integrity

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a bid to enhance food security and maintain market equilibrium, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) teamed up with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) and the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA) for a field visit to the Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society (ADCOOP). This initiative was executed in collaboration with Silal Group.

Senior officials and industry stakeholders were part of the high-level delegation tasked with assessing ongoing projects aimed at fortifying the emirate's food supply chains and ensuring that essential goods remain readily available. This visit is integral to Abu Dhabi's larger strategy focused on safeguarding strategic reserves and enhancing resilience in the food sector.

During their visit, officials scrutinized storage, distribution, and operational systems to ensure optimal efficiency and compliance with quality and food safety standards. A detailed evaluation of the entire product lifecycle was also conducted to validate compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

The discussions underlined the critical need for strong collaboration between government agencies and private sector partners. Authorities underscored the role of the UAE’s robust infrastructure in facilitating uninterrupted supply chain processes and ensuring the steady movement of goods.

Additionally, the visit aimed to uphold market transparency and mitigate unjust price hikes by closely monitoring pricing practices. Officials conveyed that such measures are vital for safeguarding consumer interests, bolstering confidence, and maintaining market stability.

Ultimately, this initiative symbolizes Abu Dhabi's unwavering commitment to enhancing food security, elevating market preparedness, and ensuring sustainable access to essential goods under all circumstances.
