The “Discover Al Shuwaib” event took place in the scenic Al Shuwaib region of Al Ain from April 17 to 19, drawing impressive participation from community members. Organized by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development alongside the Emirates Foundation, the initiative aimed to strengthen local ties.
This initiative mirrors the commitment to utilizing both natural and community resources, crafting enjoyable experiences that enhance individuals' connection to their surroundings. Moreover, it emphasizes the importance of active, healthy, and sustainable living practices, particularly in rural settings.
In line with the UAE leadership's vision, the program aims to nurture innovative community projects that showcase the distinct characteristics of various regions. Furthermore, it is designed to boost community engagement, promote sustainable development, and fortify national identity as well as connections to local heritage.
Various activities catered to every age group, including a compass navigation adventure, a mountain biking track, creative art workshops for children, and volunteering opportunities focused on environmental preservation. A tree-planting drive was also part of the initiative, aimed at raising awareness about sustainability.
Additionally, the event included activities tied to the “Proud of the UAE” campaign, fostering community spirit and active involvement among attendees.
This initiative is instrumental in positioning Al Shuwaib as an emerging community tourism hotspot, showcasing its natural and cultural treasures such as the Al Shuwaib Dam and surrounding scenic landscapes.
The event is part of the council's ongoing efforts to develop impactful initiatives that promote the environmental and tourism prospects of rural areas, making them key attractions while enhancing community connectivity throughout the UAE.
