Post by : Badri Ariffin

A partnership between the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD) and Aldar has been unveiled to develop Yas Community Park. This new location on Yas Island promises to foster interaction among residents and visitors, encouraging shared experiences and community engagement.

Envisioned as an open, welcoming space, the park will enable individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect and participate in various activities aimed at enhancing social bonds and overall community wellness.

Nabdh Yas as the Community Hub

Central to Yas Community Park is Nabdh Yas, a community hub established through the partnership of DCD and Aldar. This hub will host numerous community-driven initiatives and activities, catering to families, youth, and the elderly, thus providing a platform for learning and interaction.

Nabdh Yas represents a pioneering public-private partnership in Abu Dhabi, demonstrating how private investment is directed towards community infrastructure. DCD will oversee the hub's development and management, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s objectives to create projects with lasting societal benefits.

Expansion Plans for Nabdh Community Hubs

The ongoing development of the Nabdh Yas project is governed by an agreement between DCD and Aldar, which lays the groundwork for expanding Nabdh Community Hubs throughout Aldar’s properties in the Abu Dhabi region, including Al Dhafra and Al Ain.

This agreement was formalized with key figures present, notably His Excellency Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri from DCD and His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak of Aldar Properties, signed by His Excellency Eng. Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri and Talal Al Dhiyebi.

Aldar Emphasizes Commitment to Community Inclusion

Talal Al Dhiyebi, CEO of Aldar, expressed:

"Yas Community Park turns our vision for inclusive neighborhoods into reality. It encapsulates our belief in fostering communities that are welcoming and shaped by their inhabitants. Our collaboration with DCD on Nabdh Yas further underscores our joint commitment to developing environments that enrich lives throughout Abu Dhabi."

DCD Highlights Importance of the Partnership

According to His Excellency Eng. Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, this partnership is pivotal in boosting community centers in residential areas and transforming them into vibrant spaces promoting social ties in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision for connectivity and unity.

He remarked, "With the 'Nabdh' community centers, we are cultivating an integrated environment that fosters participation and learning while empowering community members to actively engage, thereby enhancing life quality and promoting social responsibility."

He also noted that the cooperation with Aldar is a prime example of successful public-private collaboration, emphasizing its focus on comprehensive community experiences and sustainable social impacts.

Responsibilities Under the Agreement

Per the agreement, DCD will evaluate community needs and outline the regulatory framework for programs at the community hubs. Aldar will leverage its expertise in urban design to ensure the hubs are developed to high standards while incorporating community needs into their layout. The partnership encompasses all project phases, ensuring well-designed and accessible facilities for individuals of various ages.

Part of the Yas Inclusive City Initiative

The establishment of Yas Community Park is a significant milestone within the Yas Inclusive City initiative, a collaborative effort by Aldar and DCD striving to showcase Yas Island as a global model of accessible urban living.

Reflecting the values of connection and belonging, inspired by the Year of Family, the park is designed to foster family well-being across generations, offering spaces for quality time together.
