A tragic incident in Ampang has left a community in mourning after a nine-year-old boy died following a fall from the 13th floor of a residential apartment building in Taman Cahaya. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether negligence may have played a role.
Police said they received a report at approximately 7:45 p.m. after a woman discovered the child unconscious near the apartment complex. Emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to the location, but the boy was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical staff.
Preliminary findings indicate that the child was believed to have been alone inside the apartment at the time of the incident. Investigators are working to establish exactly how the fall occurred and whether any safety measures were absent or compromised.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about child safety in high-rise residential buildings, particularly regarding supervision and access to balconies, windows, and other potentially dangerous areas. Authorities are expected to examine all relevant factors as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Police have already recorded statements from five individuals, including the victim’s parents, relatives, and witnesses who may have information about the events leading up to the tragedy. Investigators are gathering evidence to build a complete picture of what happened.
The boy’s body was transported to Ampang Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the official cause of death. Authorities said the medical findings will form an important part of the investigation.
The case is currently being investigated under provisions of the Child Act 2001 relating to the protection and welfare of minors. Officials have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure adequate supervision of children, especially in high-rise residential environments where safety risks can be significant.
