In a significant milestone for senior care, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) has inaugurated the Barakatna Clinic, following the recent launch of the Barakatna initiative by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This clinic aims to bolster healthcare services for residents aged 65 and above in Abu Dhabi.

The Barakatna initiative, championed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi and in collaboration with the Family Development Foundation along with various social organizations, is committed to ensuring that the elderly receive proper care and support for healthier and safer living.

The Barakatna Clinic enhances SSMC's reputation as a frontrunner in advanced healthcare, serving as a fully integrated service space tailored to the comprehensive needs of elderly patients, offering health assessments and support across physical, nutritional, and mental dimensions.

Operating every Monday afternoon, the clinic features an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nutritionists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and psychologists. The clinic's services are designed to tackle chronic diseases, mobility issues, mental health challenges, and preventive health measures through systematic screenings and evaluations.

Officials at the hospital emphasized that this initiative reflects SSMC's dedication to adapting its services to meet the needs of the growing senior population in the UAE. By establishing a centralized hub for senior care, the clinic promotes the UAE's enduring values of family cohesion, dignity, and community wellness.

Individuals can schedule appointments via the SSMC website, through WhatsApp, by calling the center at 800 SSMC (7762), or through direct referrals from SSMC physicians and SEHA clinics.
