Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 2-1 to top LaLiga standings

Post by : Raman

Barcelona moved to the top of the LaLiga standings with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory against Real Sociedad on Sunday. Goals from Jules Kounde and Robert Lewandowski turned the match in favor of the Catalan giants, giving them 19 points, one ahead of Real Madrid. Sociedad remained on five points after suffering their fourth defeat of the season.

The match started with Sociedad looking dangerous on rare chances, but Barcelona dominated possession, controlling 87% of the ball in the first half. Sociedad took the lead in the 30th minute when Alvaro Odriozola, making his first start of the season, scored from a precise cross by Ander Barrenetxea.

Barcelona responded in the 43rd minute when Marcus Rashford’s corner found Kounde, who headed home the equaliser before halftime.

The winning goal came in the 58th minute, shortly after substitute Lamine Yamal entered the field. The 18-year-old dribbled past a defender and set up Lewandowski, whose header hit the post and went in to give Barcelona the lead. Both teams came close to scoring again, with shots from Kubo and Lewandowski hitting the woodwork, but the scoreline remained 2-1.

Coach Hansi Flick praised the team’s effort, calling it “a team victory” and highlighting their disciplined performance. Barcelona now prepares for a crucial Champions League clash against Paris St Germain before returning to LaLiga action against Sevilla.
