Making a fabulous entrance, Blake Lively graced the Met Gala 2026 on Monday night, marking her return after last attending in 2022. This event marked her 11th appearance, solidifying her status as a Met Gala staple.

For this much-anticipated comeback, Lively selected an iconic Atelier Versace gown from the Spring 2006 collection. The choice resonated with this year's theme, “Fashion Is Art,” showcasing profound artistic influences.

The gown, adorned in soft pastel hues, featured intricate embroidery in shades such as pink, yellow, coral, peach, and lilac. It also showcased three-dimensional architectural influences reflective of 18th-century Venetian Rococo. The structured bodice and flowing design culminated in a long, four-meter skirt that transitioned into a stunning sky-like motif, symbolizing both sunrise and sunset.

Lively expressed that wearing an archival piece felt significant as it embodies art, history, and personal transformation. She emphasized that every year, she feels a new sense of self and aimed for her return to encapsulate her growth, experiences in motherhood, and overall life journey. She also conveyed how she values balancing her role as a mother while attending such grand events.

Donatella Versace commended Lively’s look, acknowledging her multitude of iconic moments with Versace at the Met Gala and praising her continued representation of the brand.

A standout element of her ensemble was a custom Judith Leiber Couture clutch, which featured artwork from her four children. This unique minaudière was crafted to involve each child’s drawing, making it particularly meaningful as it symbolized their presence with her at the gala.

Lively has consistently chosen Versace for Met Gala appearances, notably her unforgettable 2022 appearance in a gown inspired by the Statue of Liberty, as well as her 2018 look celebrating “Heavenly Bodies.”

This year’s choice of the archival Versace piece signifies a tribute to both the brand’s heritage and Donatella Versace’s craftsmanship, enhancing the significance of her return.
