New York City – A horrifying incident took place early Tuesday morning in the Bronx, New York, when a 36-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a homeless man inside her apartment in Norwood. Authorities say the 21-year-old suspect, identified as Kenneth Siriboe, entered the residential building on East Gun Hill Road near Putnam Place at around 5 a.m.
According to police reports, Siriboe covered the victim’s mouth with one hand and pressed his other hand on her throat before throwing her to the ground and repeatedly punching her. He then allegedly raped her as she pleaded for mercy, asking, “How much can I give you to make you stop?”
After the assault, Siriboe reportedly stole her Coach purse, which contained $250 in cash, her identification documents, and her apartment keys. He then fled the building. The New York Police Department (NYPD) later released video footage showing Siriboe running down the stairs of the building, pulling up his pants, and wearing a towel around his neck.
The victim suffered multiple injuries, including bruises, swelling, and cuts. She was immediately taken to North Central Bronx Hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
Siriboe was apprehended on Monday in a different Bronx building, approximately two miles away from the location of the crime. He faces serious charges including rape, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, and criminal obstruction of breathing. During his court appearance, the judge set his bail at $30,000.
This disturbing incident is part of a worrying trend in the Bronx, where the NYPD has reported 399 rape cases this year, marking a 27% increase from 314 cases reported during the same period in 2024. Officials are investigating how Siriboe gained access to the victim’s apartment and are urging residents to take extra safety precautions.
This case has drawn attention to public safety concerns in the Bronx, highlighting the need for vigilance in residential areas. Authorities continue to stress the importance of securing building entrances and reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement promptly.
The NYPD is also reviewing the released video footage as part of the investigation and continues to appeal to the public for any additional information that could aid in understanding the circumstances surrounding the attack and preventing similar incidents in the future.
