The Central Board of Secondary Education is conducting the Class 12 Political Science board examination 2026 today across India and at overseas centres, with thousands of students appearing for the paper.
As per the official schedule, the exam is being held in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, giving students a duration of three hours to complete the question paper. Entry to examination centres is strictly regulated, and students are required to carry their admit cards and valid identification.
Based on recent trends and the CBSE exam pattern, the Political Science paper is expected to be of moderate difficulty and largely based on the NCERT syllabus. The question paper is likely to include a mix of multiple-choice questions, case-study-based questions, and long-answer questions designed to test conceptual clarity and analytical skills.
Experts suggest that sections from “Contemporary World Politics” may include application-based questions, while “Politics in India Since Independence” is expected to be relatively straightforward and scoring. The board has increasingly focused on competency-based questions, encouraging students to apply concepts rather than rely on rote learning.
Teachers have advised students to focus on clear answer presentation, proper use of political terminology, and structured responses. Time management remains a key factor, with students encouraged to allocate time wisely across sections and attempt all questions.
The Political Science exam is considered important for students aiming to pursue higher studies and careers in fields such as law, civil services, international relations, and social sciences.
Students were also advised to remain calm before the exam, revise key concepts, thinkers, and case studies, and avoid last-minute cramming. With strict guidelines in place, the CBSE continues to ensure smooth and fair conduct of examinations across centres.
