On Thursday, Liwa Sports Club proudly hosted the second edition of the Purebred Arabian Horse Race, attracting top owners, riders, and enthusiasts from across Al Dhafra. This event underscores the ongoing commitment to enhance and safeguard the legacy of purebred racing, integral to the region's equestrian tradition.
The inaugural race spanned 1,700 metres, where “Al Habeeb,” owned by Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, emerged victorious. Following closely was “Safeer,” belonging to Ahmed Mohammed Fan Al Muhairbi, finishing in second place, while “Sand,” owned by Saif A’shair Ali Al Mazrouei, took third. Attendees witnessed a fiercely competitive display showcasing both the speed and prowess of riders and horses.
The second race, covering a distance of 1,400 metres, was equally exhilarating. “Maktoob,” also owned by Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, clinched first after a remarkable run. “Janjal,” owned by Saif A’shair Al Mazrouei, followed in second, and “Meeqat,” owned by Fan Mohammed Fan, took third. This race illustrated the exceptional dedication and training of the participating stables.
Liwa Sports Club reiterated that the event is part of its initiative to uphold the tradition of purebred Arabian horse racing. By organizing such contests, the club aims to preserve the Al Dhafra region's rich equestrian culture while inspiring the next generation of riders and owners to engage in this cherished sport.
The races attracted attention from local communities, horse aficionados, and seasoned riders, all showcasing their finest equines, thus highlighting the superior quality of breeding and training within the UAE. The occasion also facilitated networking opportunities among various stakeholders in the equestrian sector.
