As the iconic Bollywood actor Salman Khan celebrated his 60th birthday, a heartfelt narrative of his charitable deeds towards cancer patients emerged. Activist Viji Venkatesh shared stories that focused not on his cinematic achievements but on his unfailing humanitarian spirit.
In an emotional tribute on Instagram, Venkatesh recounted their first encounter at the Tata Memorial Hospital on November 17, 2010. Salman discreetly offered his phone number, encouraging her to reach out whenever someone needed assistance. He remained true to his word, regularly checking in and ensuring she was always updated with his contact information.
One poignant moment was when he personally encouraged a 12-year-old girl undergoing chemotherapy, touching base with her to provide moral support. Now 27 and thriving, she is readying for her exams. Venkatesh emphasized how a comforting voice at critical moments can transform lives.
Salman’s compassionate visits to children in hospital wards were also highlighted. On one occasion, he postponed a film shoot to spend quality time with young cancer patients at KEM Hospital. These impromptu visits were free from camera flashes; he simply sought to uplift their spirits with conversation and smiles.
Venkatesh cited numerous instances of his generosity. He reached out to individuals facing cancer—be it a friend's relative or a neighbor in need. In a moving act, he sent his personal gold earring to a boy with bone cancer in Meerut, providing solace amid his suffering.
Furthermore, after hearing about a girl who required a bone marrow transplant, Salman volunteered to have his brothers tested as potential donors. In another case, he invited a young child from Indore to his home when they couldn't visit a set, spending over an hour laughing and chatting, making the child feel cherished.
Concluding her tribute, Venkatesh referred to Salman Khan as her “friend in cancer care” for many years, a title she finds far more significant than accolades or box office milestones. She expressed her heartfelt wishes for his birthday, acknowledging that he truly is one of a kind.
Salman Khan celebrated his 60th birthday at his farmhouse in Panvel on December 27, with a small gathering of family and friends from various backgrounds. The intimate affair was filled with laughter, casual conversations, and a simple cake-cutting ceremony, portraying a genuine aspect of a man often viewed through the lens of celebrity.
These stories illustrate that beyond the glamor, Salman Khan has been a beacon of hope for many facing dire challenges. His 60th birthday serves as a reminder of his profound acts of kindness and humanity.
