AFI Awards 2026: A Tribute to Film and Television's Finest

The AFI Awards 2026 showcased remarkable creative collaboration, bringing together illustrious stars and filmmakers for an exclusive luncheon in Beverly Hills on Friday.

Unlike conventional award shows, the AFI Awards celebrate complete creative teams, honoring both in front of and behind the camera without competitive categories, acceptance speeches, or envelopes, ensuring a shared atmosphere of triumph.

Bob Gazzale, AFI President, emphasized the importance of collective recognition for storytelling in film and television. The event included heartfelt tributes for each honored work, along with clips that placed the year's highlights in a broader cultural context.

The event was graced by numerous Hollywood icons. Steven Spielberg was spotted conversing with director Ryan Coogler and producer Zinzi Coogler. Michael B. Jordan interacted with fellow honorees such as Jesse Plemons and Mark Ruffalo, while James Cameron and Guillermo del Toro exchanged pleasantries.

Leonardo DiCaprio mingled with Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and actors Benicio del Toro and Edward James Olmos. George Clooney was seen enjoying the relaxed vibe on the red carpet, joking with photographers beside "Death by Lightning" star Nick Offerman. The event maintained a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.

A highlight was AFI's signature March of Time montage, illustrating pivotal moments in film and television history, anchoring this year’s honorees in the ongoing legacy of storytelling.
