Celina Jaitly has issued a heart-wrenching public appeal for her brother, Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has faced over a year of detention in the UAE. Renowned for her advocacy on pressing national matters, the actor expressed her distress and reliance on the Indian government’s actions to secure her brother’s return through a heartfelt social media post.
A Heartfelt Message from Celina
Sharing a nostalgic photo of her brother in military attire, she wrote, “#mybrotherandme : My Dumpy, I hope you’re ok, I hope you know I’m standing with you like a rock, I hope you know I haven’t slept a single night without crying for you, I hope you know I’d give up everything for you, I hope you know no one can ever come between us, I hope you know I left no stone unturned, I hope God will finally be kind to you & me my bhai, waiting for you….”
This emotional message has garnered considerable attention, with fans and industry colleagues rallying in support and sharing prayers for her brother’s well-being.
Delhi High Court's Directive
Shortly after her post, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Central Government, mandating a status report within four weeks detailing Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly’s circumstances.
Celina has sought legal and medical support for her brother and, in response, the court instructed the nomination of a nodal officer to facilitate communication between the family and the detained officer, ensuring he receives legal and medical help.
Persistent Push for Answers
In a prior detailed post, Celina expressed her year-long quest for clarity regarding her brother’s predicament. She remarked, “For one year I have searched for answers for you. Now I continue my prayers to our respected government to fight for you, to bring you back safely. My government, the only entity I trust, is the Government of India, & I know they will do everything to protect this 4th-generation soldier, son, grandson & great-grandson of war veterans, who has dedicated his youth in service to our nation, holder of the COAS Commendation for Gallantry.”
Her fervent words reflect both her distress and unwavering faith in governmental interventions to ensure her brother's justice.
Legal Proceedings and Representation
Celina is represented by attorneys Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal. Her petition emphasizes the urgent need to ensure her brother’s safety and uphold his rights under international law.
The legal representatives communicated to the court that Major Jaitly has been held in detention in Abu Dhabi for over 14 months, allegedly without adequate legal or medical resources.
The court has appointed a nodal officer tasked with maintaining communication between the family and Major Jaitly, ensuring he has access to necessary legal representation. The legal team noted that these initiatives could enhance cooperation between India and the UAE while advocating for the humane treatment of Indian detainees.
Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a distinguished officer from the Indian Army’s special forces, was reportedly in the UAE for professional pursuits before his unclear detention. The specifics around his detention and the rationale for it remain undisclosed.
His family suggests he has been abducted and held without due process. Celina has persistently urged the government to take action to secure his release, describing him as a “fourth-generation soldier” and a recipient of gallantry honors who served the nation with unyielding commitment.
Next Hearing Scheduled for December
The Delhi High Court has set December 4 for the next hearing, when the Central Government will be required to submit a detailed status report regarding Major Jaitly’s safety and ongoing release efforts.
Moreover, the court publicized that Celina and her family should receive regular updates via the designated nodal officer, guaranteeing transparency as the case progresses.
Public Outcry and Support
Celina Jaitly’s touching appeals have inspired significant empathy and concern across her follower base, the film community, and armed forces members. Many have commended her resilience, pressing Indian authorities to amplify diplomatic efforts toward her brother’s release.
The actor, who was raised in a military family with a strong legacy, has repeatedly articulated her profound respect for the Indian Army. Her public plea seamlessly intertwines her personal emotions with a firm belief in the nation's institutional frameworks to achieve justice.
Pending Diplomatic Actions
As the legal journey unfolds, all eyes are on the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, poised to navigate essential diplomatic discussions with their UAE counterparts. The coming weeks are likely to prove pivotal in the quest to bring Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly back home.
