Delivery Driver Faces Violent Encounter During Appliance Drop in Alberta

Delivery Driver Faces Violent Encounter During Appliance Drop in Alberta

Post by : Meena Ariff

In central Alberta, a standard appliance delivery turned alarming when a delivery driver encountered a violent situation over an address dispute, leading to serious charges against a local man.

The confrontation occurred on December 4 at a rural site near Sundre. The driver, carrying a refrigerator, washer, and dryer, mistakenly arrived at the wrong address. Upon realizing his error, he parked on the roadside and contacted the customer for the correct location.

Soon after, the customer appeared and gave a different address. The driver informed him that changes to delivery locations must follow company policy, which reportedly infuriated the customer and fueled a rapid escalation.

As per police reports, the customer forcibly opened the truck's door and struck the driver multiple times. The situation escalated further when the customer retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, allegedly threatening the driver’s life if the delivery was not made to the new address.

Concerned for his safety, the driver fled the scene in his truck, thankfully escaping with no major injuries.

Later that day, local authorities arrested a 31-year-old man at his residence. A subsequent search uncovered 16 firearms and a significant amount of ammunition.

The suspect now faces 14 charges, including assault, making threats, and firearm-related extortion. The investigation continues as police emphasize the gravity of using weapons in conflicts, particularly in routine service encounters.
