Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was tragically shot dead at Utah Valley University earlier this month, could soon appear on US currency if a new Republican proposal passes. The House GOP plan suggests featuring Kirk’s image on special silver dollar coins, making him the youngest American to ever appear on US money.
Two Republican lawmakers, August Pfluger of Texas and Abe Hamadeh of Arizona, are leading the effort. They plan to introduce a bill urging the US Treasury to mint 400,000 silver coins with Kirk’s likeness. Each coin would be legal tender and include his full name, "Charles James Kirk," the year 2026, and the motto and full name of the United States. One side of the coin will feature Kirk’s portrait, while the other side will include the phrase, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Hamadeh described Kirk as an “American treasure,” highlighting his dedication to saving the nation for future generations. He said the coin would honor Kirk’s life and serve as a lasting reminder of his contributions. Pfluger added that Kirk was a conservative leader whose work impacted millions of Americans and deserves recognition alongside the nation’s most influential figures.
The Treasury Secretary will select the final design of the coin after consulting with former President Donald Trump. Supporters say the coin will cement Kirk’s legacy, placing him among presidents and founding fathers who shaped the United States.
If approved, the coin would mark a historic moment in US history, both commemorating a young American and honoring his role in the country’s political landscape.
