China Launches Internet Satellites via Long March

China Launches Internet Satellites via Long March

Post by : Shakul

Wenchang, Hainan Province — China successfully launched a Long March‑8A carrier rocket early Friday morning, placing a new batch of internet satellites into orbit as part of the nation’s expanding low‑Earth orbit (LEO) broadband network. The mission marks the deployment of the 20th group of internet satellites, highlighting Beijing’s ongoing effort to build a comprehensive space‑based communications system.

The rocket lifted off at 3:48 a.m. (Beijing Time) from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site, a coastal spaceport that has rapidly emerged as a hub for China’s commercial and national space activities. The carrier rocket successfully delivered all payloads into their designated orbits, contributing to China’s growing satellite constellation.

The Long March‑8A is part of the broader Long March rocket family, developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. This mission demonstrates China’s increasing cadence in orbital launches and its strategic push to enhance global connectivity through space infrastructure. The satellites launched are expected to play a key role in expanding internet coverage and supporting future digital services.

This launch comes amidst rapid development in China’s space sector, with multiple missions planned throughout 2026 aimed at strengthening satellite communication networks and hosting payloads that support applications from broadband internet to space‑ground data services.
