Mozambique is grappling with devastating flooding following heavy rainfall, inundating towns and causing extensive destruction. In Xai-Xai, which has been severely affected, residents have reported sightings of crocodiles roaming the submerged streets. Tragically, at least three fatalities have been confirmed due to crocodile assaults.
The flooding crisis has extended across southern Africa, with over 100 lives lost in Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe due to relentless rains and floods over the past month. The deluge has obliterated thousands of homes and wreaked havoc on essential infrastructure, including roads, bridges, schools, and health care facilities.
Authorities in Mozambique are urging residents to seek refuge on higher ground as ongoing evacuations proceed, stressing the heightened dangers posed by crocodiles in flooded regions.
