Cultural Engagement Initiatives Thrive in Ibra

Post by : Maya Rahman

The Cultural Club has unveiled its latest iteration of the Cultural Platforms Program in Ibra, located in the North A’Sharqiyah Governorate. This edition represents a significant step forward and spans two full days, focusing on enhancing cultural activities across Oman. The initiative encourages enriching discussions, innovative ideas, and community involvement.

This program exemplifies the Club’s commitment to expanding its cultural reach throughout diverse Wilayats. Its primary goal is to bolster community participation and foster stronger ties between academic bodies, cultural entities, and individuals eager to enrich their intellectual and artistic knowledge. It endeavors to connect scholars, writers, and the public who appreciate cultural evolution.

The Cultural Platforms Program encompasses a diverse array of lectures, academic workshops, and discussion sessions. These events gather preeminent researchers and academics specializing in literary studies, urban heritage, folk poetry, and children's education. By offering a multitude of topics, the program delivers a well-rounded portrayal of Oman’s cultural climate and nurtures local talent.

Day one happened at the University of A’Sharqiyah in Ibra, featuring a lecture titled "Urban Features in the Wilayat of Ibra," presented by Dr. Nasser bin Saleh Al Ismaili. This discussion spotlighted the historical and architectural traits that define Ibra's identity. Attendees also participated in a session called "Al Mazra’ah Village: History and Architecture," led by researcher Yacoub bin Mohammed Al Rawahi, focusing on the village's heritage and its crucial role in Omani history.

The agenda also included a talk on "The Importance of Children’s Literature in School Education" by Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari from Abdullah bin Zaid Basic Education School for Boys. This session illuminated the significant role of children's literature in shaping imagination, values, and language skills among young learners. It particularly aimed to enlighten teachers and parents about the importance of fostering early reading habits.

Tomorrow's schedule features a workshop on short story analysis conducted by Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari, offering techniques for effectively engaging with and evaluating short stories in an accessible manner. Additionally, Dr. Said Al Wahaibi will lead a talk on "Critical Views on Folk Poetry," highlighting the cultural and artistic relevance of Omani folk poetry.

Furthermore, there will be a discussion on "Omani Folk Literature," hosted by Dr. Ali bin Hamad Al Farsi and Dr. Bassam Barqawi from the University of A’Sharqiyah. This session will cover various traditional literary forms, including stories, poems, and oral cultural heritage. An evening discussion titled "Stylistic Phenomena in Omani Poetic Verse" will also take place, featuring contributions from renowned literary scholars and critics.

The Cultural Platforms Program signifies the Cultural Club's aim to provide engaging cultural content resonating with community interests. By facilitating these types of events throughout the Sultanate’s Governorates, the Club aspires to develop vibrant creative spaces that encourage discussion, nurture local talents, and amplify the voices of artists and thinkers. These platforms highlight the Club’s dedication to enhancing the national cultural landscape and honoring literature, heritage, and other crucial intellectual pursuits.

This initiative ensures that cultural activities remain integral to Omani society. By promoting knowledge exchange and artistic expression, the program significantly enriches the nation’s cultural identity, cultivating an environment where creators, scholars, and learners can thrive in unison.
