On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, celebrated every year on October 10, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone announced that she has been appointed as the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The actor shared the news on her Instagram account, expressing that she feels “deeply honoured” by this recognition.
In her post, Deepika shared a picture where she was seen alongside Union Minister JP Nadda and Punya Salila Srivastava. In her caption, she wrote, “On World Mental Health Day, I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador.”
Deepika further expressed her gratitude, saying, “Led by our Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our nation has taken meaningful steps to place mental health at the heart of public health. Through my own journey and the work we’ve done at The Live Love Laugh Foundation over the past decade, I’ve seen how much is possible when we come together to build a mentally healthy India.”
She added that she looks forward to working under the guidance of JP Nadda and the Ministry of Health to strengthen India’s mental health framework further. The post received a lot of love and appreciation from her fans and colleagues. Her husband, Ranveer Singh, proudly commented, “So proud of you .”
Deepika Padukone has been one of the strongest voices in India’s ongoing conversation about mental health. In 2015, she founded The Live Love Laugh Foundation (TLLL) after opening up about her personal battle with depression. Through the foundation, she has worked to spread awareness, break stigma, and support people struggling with mental health issues.
Her appointment as the country’s first Mental Health Ambassador marks a major step towards promoting mental well-being at the national level. The move is expected to inspire more open discussions about mental health and encourage individuals to seek help when needed.
On the professional front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s film “Singham Again,” which also starred Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor. The film performed impressively at the box office, earning ₹372 crore worldwide.
The actress, who recently welcomed her first child, will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film “King” and Allu Arjun’s project with director Atlee.
Through both her professional success and her continued advocacy for mental health, Deepika Padukone continues to inspire millions across the country—proving that strength comes not from hiding one’s struggles, but from speaking up and helping others find hope.
