Renowned music composer Devi Sri Prasad, affectionately known as DSP, has praised actor Rashmika Mandanna for her remarkable role in The Girlfriend. The composer, notable for scoring hit films like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Kuberaa, stated that Rashmika “deserves a national award” for her work in this film.
In a heartfelt social media post, DSP shared a movie poster, writing, “#TheGirlfriend — A film that I wholeheartedly applauded recently! Rashmikaa, you are not just a ‘national crush’ but truly deserving of a ‘national award’ for your role in this film.”
Continuing to express his admiration, DSP highlighted Rashmika’s proficiency in portraying innocence convincingly. “After stealing our hearts with performances in movies like Pushpa and Chaava, how did you so effortlessly bring back such authenticity in your expression? It’s because you genuinely lived it. The depth you convey in each expression is astonishing,” he said.
Furthermore, Devi Sri Prasad commended director Rahul Ravindran for skillfully handling delicate subject matter in the film, saying, “This is a must-watch for everyone! Rahul sir, how did you manage to portray such a sensitive narrative so brilliantly? Congratulations to you and the producers for gifting us this emotional journey!”
DSP also acknowledged Dheekshith Shetty's strong performance as the male lead and Anu Emmanuel’s “subtle maturity” in the film. He recognized the contributions of Hesham Abdul Wahab (music), Krishnakanth Vasant (cinematography), and Chota K Prasad (editing), referring to their work as “beautiful and impactful.”
Directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend features Rashmika Mandanna as Bhooma Devi alongside Dheekshith Shetty in prominent roles. This Telugu romantic drama delves into a seemingly magical romance that becomes toxic due to the male lead's aggressive tendencies. The film's cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Rao Ramesh, and Rohini in significant roles.
Rashmika’s portrayal of Bhooma Devi has garnered widespread applause, with both audiences and critics recognizing her emotional range and depth. Devi Sri Prasad’s enthusiastic endorsement amplifies the film’s recognition, establishing Rashmika as one of the standout performers of her era.
