The much-awaited romantic drama Dhadak 2 has finally hit the big screens today. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, the film has caught the attention of many with its intense story, powerful dialogues, and emotional depth. Though it has been released on only about 1,000 screens across India, the early response shows that the movie might become a big success in the coming days.

Strong Start Despite Fewer Screens

Even before the official release, some cities had already seen houseful bookings. Chennai led the way with nearly all shows sold out in advance. Reports also suggest that theatres in cities like Kolkata and Jaipur are witnessing a strong flow of bookings. The love story’s soundtrack and the film’s emotional promos seem to have touched a chord with audiences, especially the younger crowd and urban moviegoers.

The limited release plan was done on purpose. The makers decided to first release the film in selected areas, mainly metro cities and bigger towns. This strategy allows them to test how the film performs and then increase the number of shows if the audience response is good.

Advance Bookings Show Great Interest

Even before fans entered the theatres on opening day, there was good news for the makers. About 18,000 tickets were already sold in advance across the country through popular cinema chains. This shows that people are excited to watch this emotional and meaningful story on the big screen.

Some cinema halls reported that shows were filling up within minutes of opening online bookings. While the number of theatres may be smaller compared to some big commercial films, the energy and interest among the audience is not small.

What Is Dhadak 2 About?

Dhadak 2 is directed by Shazia Iqbal, and it is not a direct sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, but rather a spiritual follow-up. That means it continues the theme and tone of the original but tells a new story with new characters.

The movie is based on the critically praised Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. It tells the story of love facing social barriers, especially caste discrimination, which is still a sensitive and real issue in many parts of India.

Siddhant and Triptii’s characters fall in love, but their relationship faces strong resistance from society because they come from different caste backgrounds. The film not only explores their romance but also highlights issues of injustice, struggle, and the pain of being judged for who you are.

The movie also stars Zakir Hussain and Saurabh Sachdeva in important roles, adding depth to the story with their strong performances.

Music and Dialogues Add to the Emotion

One of the biggest reasons people were excited about Dhadak 2 is its music. The songs have been trending and widely shared online even before the film’s release. Listeners have praised the emotional feel of the soundtrack and how the songs capture the pain and beauty of forbidden love.

The dialogues shown in the film’s trailers and promos are also being talked about a lot. Many of them deal with real-life issues faced by people who are judged because of their caste or background. The film’s makers have said that they wanted to tell a love story that feels real and hits the heart.

Clash at the Box Office

Dhadak 2 is not the only film releasing this weekend. It is facing tough competition from other big releases. One of the major clashes is with Son of Sardaar 2, an action comedy directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. This film stars Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Deepak Dobriyal, and debut actress Roshni Walia.

In addition to that, there are still audiences going to see older releases like Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha, which are holding strong in smaller cities and among regional viewers.

Because all these films are meant for different types of audiences—romance lovers, action fans, and spiritual viewers—it will be interesting to see which film wins the box office race by the end of the weekend.

What Makes Dhadak 2 Special?

What stands out about Dhadak 2 is its bold story. It talks about caste and social discrimination—subjects not always shown in popular films. Director Shazia Iqbal has tried to keep the film real and close to the experiences of many young people in India today.

The romance in the film is not just sweet and fun. It’s full of pain, challenges, and emotional strength. The two lead actors are already being praised for their performances, and early viewers are saying that their chemistry is very powerful.

What’s Next for the Film?

If Dhadak 2 performs well at the box office, the makers are planning to increase the number of shows and screens in the coming days. The movie’s success will mostly depend on word of mouth—that means how many people enjoy the film and tell their friends and family to go watch it.

Since it started with fewer screens, every ticket sold matters a lot. If the positive trend continues, we may see Dhadak 2 grow in popularity just like its predecessor did in 2018.

Dhadak 2 is more than just a love story. It’s a film that asks important questions about society while also giving audiences an emotional ride. With strong performances, great music, and a meaningful plot, the film has made a strong start.

  • Now it remains to be seen whether it can win hearts across the country and become one of the big hits of the year. One thing is clear: Dhadak 2 has something important to say—and people are listening.
