Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, keeps setting new box office records more than six weeks after its December 5 release. The spy action thriller has now earned an impressive Rs 871.9 crore in the domestic market alone.
On January 17, official updates revealed that Dhurandhar made Rs 869.8 crore in its first 42 days, followed by an additional Rs 2.1 crore on the 43rd day. The film’s steady daily earnings have been described as a powerful and “lethal” run, dominating cinemas across the country and beyond.
A week-wise breakdown shows the film’s strong hold on audiences: Rs 218 crore in Week 1, Rs 261.5 crore in Week 2, Rs 189.3 crore in Week 3, Rs 115.7 crore in Week 4, Rs 56.35 crore in Week 5, and Rs 28.95 crore in Week 6. This consistent performance highlights Dhurandhar’s appeal and staying power in theatres.
Actors and industry insiders have praised the lead performances, particularly Ranveer Singh’s nuanced and restrained portrayal. According to a notable voice in the industry, Ranveer’s ability to convey deep emotions while playing a covert agent yearning for his homeland is a remarkable feat, making his performance stand out.
The film’s storyline is inspired by major real-life incidents like the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Operation Lyari, giving it a gripping and intense narrative.
Excitement is already building for Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled for release on March 19, promising to continue the thrilling journey.
