DP World has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art cold storage facility in Egypt with an investment of USD 29 million (around EGP 1.42 billion). The project follows the acquisition of land in Elsewedy Industrial Development Park, located in Al Oula Industrial City, amid rising demand for advanced storage solutions, particularly for frozen foods and agricultural exports.
The new facility will cover 16,194 square meters and feature eight separate chambers, with capacity for 25,000 pallets. It will store chilled and frozen products, including fruits, vegetables, dairy, and other frozen items. Equipped with an advanced refrigeration system, the facility will ensure energy efficiency, precise temperature control, and compliance with international standards.
Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt, said, “This cold storage project strengthens Egypt’s logistics and trade. It will help exporters and manufacturers reach wider markets, operate efficiently, and explore new opportunities. Along with our Sokhna Logistics Park, we are creating a logistics network that positions Egypt as a global trade hub.”
The facility will be fully operated by DP World and will include a modern Warehouse Management System (WMS), providing real-time inventory updates and seamless integration with client platforms. Its strategic location offers easy access to Greater Cairo, national highways, and export routes, supporting both domestic and international deliveries.
This investment will enhance Egypt’s cold chain infrastructure, protect food quality, reduce wastage, and improve competitiveness for exporters in global markets. It complements DP World’s ongoing developments at the Port of Ain Sokhna, Sokhna Logistics Park, and third-party logistics services, demonstrating the company’s commitment to expanding Egypt’s logistics sector, boosting the economy, and supporting local industries.
